Archbishop Simon celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the patronal feast of the Church of the Exaltation of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord.

On the feast of the Universal Exaltation of the Precious, Glorious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, Archbishop Simon celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross in the Ardennes. Concelebrating with him were Archpriest Pavel Nedosekin, rector of the church; Priest Adrian Alaoui, rector of the Church of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God in Brussels; Priest Dimitri Yatsun, rector of the Church of the Theophany in Mechelen; and Priest Andrei Popa, rector of the Church of Saint Anna the Righteous in Laeken (Brussels), as well as Deacons Yaroslav Makal, Maxim Burla and Ilya Toncu, clergy of Holy Trinity Church in Brussels.

In his homily the Archbishop spoke of the greatness of the finding and exaltation of the Cross of the Lord, and of the need to bear one’s cross wherever the Lord places a person to serve or work. This must be done with gratitude to God.

It was heartening to see all those present at the service partake of the Holy Mysteries of Christ. The Archbishop thanked the choir for its beautiful singing. Following the words of greeting and the singing of “Many Years”, everyone shared a meal prepared by the parishioners.
