History:
Russian Orthodox parishes existed in Antwerp from the 1920s to the 1960/70s. After a lapse of some three decades, Archbishop Simon of Brussels and Belgium in October 1999 recreated a parish for Russian-speaking churchgoers. From 2000 until today the parish uses Saint Joseph church by the central city park. To mark the 2000-th anniversary of Christianity, the parish was named in honour of the Nativity of Christ. In 2004 it was officially recognized by the Belgian authorities.
