On Saturday, November 22, the feast day of the Archangel Michael and all the Bodiless Powers of Heaven, Archbishop Simon of Brussels and Belgium solemnly celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the patronal feast day of the parish in Mons. Concelebrating with him were Priest Alexander Nichiporuk, rector of the church in Mons; Archpriest Vladimir Putyatitsky; Priest Dimitry Yatsun, rector of the parish of the Holy Epiphany in Willebroek; Priest Andrei Popa, rector of the Church of St. Righteous Anne in Laaken; Priest Alexander Tsabiev, cleric of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Brussels; and Priest Georgy Starostin, acting rector of the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in Kortrijk. In recognition of his many years of diligent work for the good of the Church of Christ in the Brussels and Belgium Diocese, Priest Alexander Nichiporuk, rector of the Church of the Archangel Michael in Mons, was awarded a liturgical award - a palitsa - by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'.
The archpastoral youth choir sang during the service.
Following the Divine Liturgy and prayer service, a general reception was held by the parishioners, during which a warm, fraternal atmosphere reigned.
As is well known, the parish was founded in 2009, when the building was purchased. Over the past few years, a complete renovation of all the premises has been completed. The roof was replaced, a dome and a cross were installed. A carved iconostasis was installed, and beautiful icons were painted. All liturgical utensils were purchased. Currently, the church is filled with parishioners, who come not only from the Belgian province of Hainaut but also from the French province of Picardy.
